Are there drawbacks to using a macro lens at normal focal lengths and not macro focal lengths? I\’m looking for a new tele zoom and found on with the zoom range I want, and more importantly the price range I want… :), but it’s macro. I can definitely make use of it as a macro lens as well but at the moment I’m needing a more all purpose lens. Thanks guys.
Not at all.
I have a dedicated 90mm macro lens which is also ideal as a portrait lens for example. In fact it is fast becoming my favorite walk-around lens!
