    • I had some issues with connections the other night as well. Sun spots or something.
Photographs aren’t just pictures, are they?
Soemtimes I wonder if the ‘what sort of camera do you have?’ is just a conversation starter, like ‘nice weather’ or ‘how are you’.
I’m learning to deal with that and find another opening. My wife says I’m a grumpy old man and should be nicer to people. She should talk!
Criticism hurts sometimes. This is where we need to be constructive in our criticism, but honest as well. Not much point in telling a person you like their images and they are crap just to please them. But we need to know what we are talking about as well. My students expect me to be critical. I wouldn’t be earning my money if I wasn’t. They expect I know what I am talking about as well. I need to make sure I do. But I’m not the end of the story. Each of us can recognise that we can learn from each other. I learn from my students all the time. I love it when they reveal something new to me. One of my students said she liked the way I showed enthusiasm for what I do. I explained to her that the enthusiasm comes from seeing my students learning and teaching me.
And it never stops being fun.
