A unique challenge? Need feedback for forum idea

So these are just some jumbled thoughts that I have not really put in any order, but I wanted to throw it out there for you guys to discuss.

I thought it could be cool if we had a new type of thread. Not sure what I would call it but the idea would be for a member to start a new forum thread with a commitment to post in it regularly for a photo project. For example, it could be “Rob’s Daily Photo Diary” or “My Weekly Photo Challenge” or something like that?

The idea here are up because I noticed a lot of of you who are regularly posting have really accelerated your skill level through the sheer volume of shooting you’re doing. Patrick is obviously sticking to a schedule but it could be cool for some of the rest of us to stick to a schedule and keep it in one place?

I don’t know if this makes sense to anyone else so feel free to rif off the idea and see if we can come to some type of idea for this type of thread.

We could also do it all starting on a particular date or week or even month, I suppose. Seriously, I’ve not really thought this through as you can probably tell by now.

Sounds like a neat idea. Individuals might choose to “theme” there stream or simply show the diversity of their creative efforts?

I worry a little about how this might crowd out visibility of non-theme related posts, especially if the day’s/week’s posts involve multiple images. I suppose each person would maintain their own “series”. Multiple posts by multiple people like the “throwdowns” to a general one could take up a lot of space.

Yeah, I think we would have to install the culture that it is perfectly acceptable and maybe even expected that you put the images both in your own thread and in any others that might fit if you like to. There can’t be a stigma about multiple image posts.

We kind of have that already in the throw downs , but me, and as I have posted before, am very busy in many different jobs / pursuits, I only schedule eating and sleeping.

True, but the throwdown are for anyone to join in with images. This would just be images from the original poster with other people commenting, but I don’t see too many opportunities for other people to post their images in somebody’s personal thread of this type

I’m not even sure it needs to be for feedback.

Personally, I have watched people do 365 projects of shooting an image every day, and while every image isn’t that great, the cumulative effect is usually quite spectacular after a year of doing it. I’m more talking about offering a way for people to get that regular posting happening.

Okay, I have started one, if you have different ideas then please start your own and show us because it could turn into something pretty cool. We could even make a separate of the people who want to start these. Up to you guys.

I should stress that this doesn’t need to be daily.

Should be up to the poster as to how often they were to post. Could be weekly or even just intermittently with no set schedule. The idea is just more a home for peoples ideas.

Good to hear, @maksimi – Out of curiosity, what schedule would you set for yourself?

I tried weekly before — it didn’t last. Perhaps I need to prepare something in advance and give myself a little time buffer. For example, I’m on a road trip/moving at the moment, and my laptop refuses to open Capture One, so whatever is on my camera has to wait.
