This is about Deviant Art, the art sharing site that’s been around since forever. (I joined in 2009)
A bot, or so it says, told me one of my photos had been sold! Being high on my meds I fell for it, right until the very last end when a light bulb went on. If someone wants to buy your art they would message you privately. That’s one of my own rules I tell people about getting emails like You owe such and such this amount. Your bank or whatever would address you personally. ‘Dear Mr Shone’ rather that ‘Congratulations, someone has purchased one of your photos. ‘
This is the scammer on deviant art. I deleted and reported it and another popped up, same image, different account name.

He or another version of he sent a follow up, in red. Your account will be suspended because you didn’t follow through with payment. I laughed so hard at that post, sent him a sarcastic message, blocked and deleted. I’m now waiting for a confirmation mail from deviant art to remove my account. But I don’t think anyone runs it anymore. Its been pretty bad for a while to be honest. Good riddance

Sorry you are getting this rubbish Larry , best and safest advice is simply don’t click on anything and don’t reply in any way shape or form then you will be ok, the web is saturated with bots and real human scammers.
I had an account on there from the opening of DA for 14 years doing digital art , i left took up photography and when i went back to look at DA it was full of porn and had many changes i noticed , i never went back again.
These scammers are simply casting a net over a wide area hoping even just for one victim as long as you don’t bite you should be good.

Yes its gone really bad now, a real Lads zone kind of site. The software it uses is terrible from a phone. People have complained, nothing gets done. I’ve had images stolen from my account and edited to look cartoony. (a steam engine shot)
The user said, well I found the image on Google . Yea sure you did pal. Every photographer can recognise his or her own images!

Allows Edits? YesI don’t even stress stolen images anymore, just try to stop it, you can’t. I had a photographer friend tell me the other day when we were discussing it.
” I Think I’ve made it as a Professional Photographer” (he has been for years) “My Photo’s are Good Enough to Steal”
Some of the worst crooks are the sites that charge you to post your photo’s promising to protect them.

Allows Edits? YesAt least its easier to deal with, just take a new and better Photo , Now if your Camera, Phone, Cattle, Motorbike, Car, Dog, or Wife get’s stolen, Well that’s a problem, I guess when it comes to the wife that may not be the case.

Allows Edits? YesOne of the reasons it’s so difficult to get into this forum is because idiots like this were ruining the place. I think we’ve got a handle on the spammers and the scammers now but it did take us a while and we went through some pretty low times when you’re trying to manage something like this and these spammers are taking advantage of your platform it is incredibly disheartening so I feel for the guys who own deviant art. I suppose it’s only going to get worse with AI spammers now.
