This past Monday I smoked pulled pork for our church’s Community Dinner. I had my HT ham radio going and when I looked over, I saw this little bug on the on/off/volume switch. Have no clue what this bug is.
Camera is a Lumix LX5 set to the macro setting. Glad the bug did not feel threatened, the lens was literally a 1/2 inch from it when I took this shot. The second shot, I was an inch (I think). He had flown over to my tote holding the wood for the smoker.

Well, there are plenty of milkweeds in the field next to the church. Thanks for IDing the beetle.

Allows Edits? YesI especially like that first one, but wow, that setting gives you an extraordinarily narrow depth of field to play with. Doesn’t have a function to stack the images because that would be epic.

Yeah, the DoF is limited. I believe the intent for this specific point and shoot camera was for flat surfaces. Watch face, coins, textures, but add an angle and the DoF is very limited.

Welp, since I started this thread, I’ll add something from this morning.
I was walking my dog Moocher and noticed leaves missing from a sapling. Then, I saw it. Brought Mooch back to the house and grabbed the camera on the kitchen table and bare with me, 40mm lens and took these shots.

Allows Edits? YesNice catch on the Sphinx Moth Caterpillar RG, I haven’t seen one of these in many years though they used to be common here.

It’s huge! On the first photo where it was stretched out, I’d give it 3.5 inches long. When it went on alert as I moved the camera closer, it tucked in a little and raised up off the twig. Seemed to be watching me after that, LOL.

Allows Edits? YesI wouldn’t be surprised, the moths are really cool as well , with a wing span around 6in they are hard to miss.
