First off great title. 🙂 There sure are a lot of weird looking bugs in this world. I generally don’t spend much time in the shark tank but I’ll take a stab at it.
As fun as it is to see anything defy the laws of gravity, for me personally it’s a more comfortable image to look at with McBugface right side up. I’m not sure where the halo around the leaf’s edge comes from but doesn’t look right. In my edit I did nothing to deal with the leaf. Just flipped it, small crop and reduced some noise.

Allows Edits? Yes@pentaxfan – yours looks way sharper on my screen. Strange.

This one lacks sufficient interest overall Rob. I don’t think any change is going to alter that. Sorry mate… 😉

Allows Edits? YesAs Dave has said: flip it. The halo looks weird – maybe strong post-process (I often make halo with too much Clarity = contrast in middle tones / CaptureOne)?
Back of the bug isn’t sharp. Yes, get whole subject sharp in macro photography is very hard. Whether the subject is totall yparallel to camera chip or you use focus stacking (not usable with live subject).
And as Tobie has said: I miss more interesting background. Or “zoom” more and have much bigger subject in frame. But it depends on your camera macro setup.

Allows Edits? YesI don’t know if uploading example of my critique is ok or not… If not tell me please…
What I mean concerning more interesting background (it’s definitely not perfect image, the bug is not perfectly sharp, but as an example only…):

Allows Edits? YesI agree, the background can make or break the entire piece. I like this one, Peter. Even if the bug isn’t super sharp.
@admin, find yourself a cuter bug, too 🙂

Allows Edits? YesLol – @glegg – I try! But Aussie bugs are all brown. 🙁
I can’t wait to visit the butterfly park in Malaysia again.

Something about the depth of field bothers me. The bug looks disconnected from the environment. Maybe go in and blur everything except the bug.

Allows Edits? YesI see what you guys mean about that halo. Weird thing is that it’s actually there in the original RAW. Messing with the light brings it out a lot more though.
