I mentioned in my intro that my first real camera was a Canon AE-1 Program.
I took this photo in 1987 during a FTX while serving in the Army and stationed in Germany. It was just before chow time, personal hygiene was done and the RTO was listening for the call so our Platoon could rotate to chow.
I scanned the original 8×10 photo several years ago, to have a permanent digital copy of the film photo.

Allows Edits? YesVery cool shot that I think works really well in black-and-white kind of harking back to those older military photos. I think one of the benefits of knowing the subjects really well is that you can move around and the setting without drawing much attention and so you get a lot better candid images. This one kind of proves that.
Look forward to seeing a lot more too!

Thanks for the comments. Your point about knowing the subjects well is so true. I always have a camera with me. Family and friends almost expect me to enter the door and put the camera on the kitchen counter or a table. Knowing I will find something or someone to take a shot of. With the years of experience, I can literally be in the room with a camera and they never think of the camera, then snap. Another moment documented.

Dahlia, Thank you.
I had this photo hanging on the wall in my office when I was employed by DOD and worked on an Army post. It always generated conversation. One of the funniest responses was from a very young soldier. When I told him when I took the picture, he paused and said, “My parents hadn’t even been born yet… ” Wow, did we laugh.

Thank you.
I’ve been looking through his site. Amazing photography. The Dispossessed story hits close. During my first tour in Iraq, we frequented a Turkish Refugee camp. While the faces are different in Chris’ photos, kids are kids and the smiles and goofing around are so similar.
I need to do something with all my Iraq photos. I have 110 photos I’ve separated out of about 170. The plan is to do a zine of the photos and put a reasonable sale price on it.
