I like the colors and how the candlestick get colors from background.
I think the best position is center of frame cos candlestick is symmetrical object. Thats why I feel it a little bit unbalanced and I’d crop a little bit from the left.

              Hi, Peter.

              Thanks for your comments.

I noticed the slightly offset position from center early in the post-processing, but forgot about it later.

Back In Camera raw under Geometry > Rotate.  I gave it a slight tip back to the left to try to straighten it. and cropped in a bit from the left to try to get it centered.  But, even though I tried to get equal space on the sides, I think it might be the swath of red that gets it unbalanced  or upsetting the symmetry.  The red juist gives that side more mass. Very nice choice of background giving the glass a unique look.  Nice eye to create this image.

Maybe moving the red to the other side will help with balance.

I transferred a little of the red colors on the right over to the left, but the candlestick itself is lopsided, so I’m not sure I want perfect symmetry.  I also attempted to straighten it, but the lopsidedness makes it difficult for me to tell if it is actually straight.

What tool did you use to move some of the red from right to left? I used the patch tool, but the colors did not stay true.  (Purple spot that doesn’t appear on the red on the right.)

Once again, Frank, excellent contribution to constructive criticism! Thank you.

                        Thanks for your input, Dahlia.

Here is my attempt to pull this together until I can figure out the patch tool, or some other tool to copy some of the red on the right to the left.

I like this one Greg. I think removing the red patch from the right will also help to balance it. I think clone tool and content aware fill tools will help you do this job. I am not too good with Photoshop 🙂

I would pull down the saturation of that red in the background right a little, but that’s about it.

I am pretty sure I used the patch tool to move the red ad then muted it. To get rid of the red, use the the lasso tool to encircle it, then Edit> Fill>Content Aware.   (the new Content Awarer Fill tool still confuses me).   You might see “Foreground Color” in the top box, open that box for a drop down menu and select “Content Aware” and hit Okay.

Thanks, Frank. I seem to need a course in PS. I know quite a bit about a few subjects, but not even all the basic stuff.

Not only is it impossible to learn all about PS, it easy for me to forget what I once knew!  When it is hard to eye-ball exact symmetry Use command R to activate rulers, then pull in two vertical ones from the left and put them right along the image edges of the subject you want centered, ie, your candlestick, then check to see how many units (inches for me) they are from the left and right edges of the entire photo. crop or move the image to get the distances equal,
