I noticed when this happened that it might be a good chance to get a shot that shows scale. How did I do?

Oops, forgot – this one was taken on an iPhone and edited in Lightroom mobile.

You nailed the edit looks bloody stunning in mono , also yes to your question the people from closest to further back all recede nicely and the wave size is clearly big , looks a good spot for bigger stormier seas just be careful 🙂

I’m actually staggered by the size of some of the waves in Sydney during storm season.  The only thing that’s bigger than the waves is some peoples stupidity at how they treat them. You see the lifesavers racing up and down the coast on jet skis the whole time that these waves are happening and heaps of helicopters in the air too.  I don’t think people intentionally go swimming, but they tend to get washed off rocks when they get too close.

The photo works really well to show scale. Love the composition too and the conversion to black and white 🙂

The person looks larger than I expected so your scale must be right. Very dramatic. Preserving whites is tough and you’ve covered the entire range very well.

Thanks mate. This was late afternoon, so keeping the whites from blowing out was actually easier than other times of the day.

Well, they are either giant waves or tiny people … so your scale is good. Also the b/w is perfect for the shot.

                          Thanks @tersha

I’m hoping to get a few more of these types of shots in the coming weeks. Hopefully we get a storm or two.

A Place to Sit and Ponder the power of the Oceans Waters. I Imagine I would ditch the camera and join them.

Exactly what I did after a few shorts, mate 😉
