Allows Edits? YesWondering if it’s only me.
This week I literally didn’t take a single photograph. Last week it was hundreds.
I am either on or off. I don’t seem to have a slow and steady gene for photography.
I can’t be the only one?

Allows Edits? YesNo mate, definitely not! I too go through the same, sometimes so enthused then other times not. So many times I miss out on some great photography only because I can’t seem to locate MoJo. Then other morning got up at 0430Hrs and climbed Bluff Knoll in Albany, its an hour and half climb to the top,(1hr 10 for my wife) I did it with a broken rib and my reward was this. I often ask why and what can i do to change this??

Allows Edits? YesI run cold cold cold hot cold cold…. I admire Diane @tersha and Lenny @el-dub – they always seem to be out and about capturing great images.
I live in a boring suburban area. So outside of my garden, I have to make plans to drive somewhere to photograph. The older I get the less intrepid I feel about tramping through the woods alone, though this area has wonderful parks and woods. This used to be a favorite way to stumble on wonderful creatures and scenes. So my goal in 2021 is to make fun plans to get to different locales to explore with my camera. I also plan to start something new for me – still life macro photography in my basement.

Allows Edits? YesThanks for the mention Anne @annehornsby, I’m out and about a lot because I look after a young man with Special Needs, and he likes to go out in the car and listen to music, and I take my camera . Sometimes I’m not inspired to get it out, though I usually take something with my phone. 🙂

Honestly i would be out everyday if i had a car , my local area is all hills which takes a lot of effort each time i go up them , i walk from home there and back 3 times a week and normally put in about 10 or 12 miles each time , i have lots of very good spots that are only between 10 and 30 miles from me but rubbish public transport timetables that don’t suit photography timetables 🙂 i use my bike if i go into the city center that takes about half hour each way.
If i had a photography friend i would be out even more .. I simply love it.

Allows Edits? YesI do, too. Sometimes I don’t take any photo whole month. Sometimes I produce 50 keepers a week…

I have had a really bad few weeks with work and family emergencies that my photography became a non entity…..I went out today and took some photos, the first time in ages and it felt great. Found some Fungi which I will post one image of but got a bit wet and muddy getting down on the floor to get the shot…..it’s that I missed the most – figuring out how to get that shot and is it humanly possible (especially at my age).

Allows Edits? YesI sometimes even force myself to photograph because I know it will improve my mood. I’m sort of prone to feeling depressed and worthless, and I definitely don’t feel like using my camera in such states of mind, but I usually find enough strength to convince myself to do something creative.

Allows Edits? YesPhotography is powerful mate, and I know that those state of minds are tormenting and awful, it is good that you have already find that, even when forced, photography can make you feel a bit less awful.

Allows Edits? YesI am kind of glad this is not just me. A long way from it by the looks of it.
Sometimes I open a photography book, magazine or one of the Light Stalking projects or cheat sheets to a random page and make myself shoot whatever is on it. Other than that I can get REALLY stuck.

Absolutely l. I can’t even tell you how many cameras I’ve had; how many times I’ve read articles about the exposure triangle. How many “hi I’m new here, what do you think of this crap photo I took?”. And here I am again, working my way through introductory tutorials…light, exposure, relearn my camera, drop $100 on the newest thing that is going to make me stick with it and take photos worth having!
Glad to hear even the pros have the hot and cold. Here’s my cat, taken while remembering the exposure triangle and using the Pet photo tutorial…hoping it’s not absolute crap and imagining that some day it might actually be good…if I stick with it lol!

Katie, the same cat, different mood. Cropped so we do not see the brown window frame. We do not need the window frame to understand he/she looks outside. A tad sharpening on the eye, a tad softening on the fur. Two versions:

I’m in that headspace right now and have been for most of September. Going through a long drawn out house move to another part of the UK and my motivation to shoot locally seems to have left already. It’s a key factor in signing up to these challenges, get my focus back and learn new skills.
