I really do like the light here , the one thing i would (try) to do different , i am not feeling this blurred portion at the front , the dark parts keep making me look at them in the bottom left corner the gap , maybe i would have tried using a smoother run into the stiemens with a surface of a petal , as it is it just looks clumpy for me Rob.

the bright spots are too hot, they’re competing against the stamens for attention. i’d also rotate it a little more so the flower was closer to a 45° angle. like patrick, i think the blurred petals are a bit too much, if you moved up just a little bit to show more of the stamens then the blur would work better to frame the center of interest rather than compete with it. moving the camera like that should also remove that small window in the bottom left that lets you peek inside the flower.
the color and focus are spot on. fantastic detail.

For me, the front petals obstruct the view. Focus isn’t my issue. It’s that I can’t see the main subject as well as I would like. I might have considered converting this to b&w. The dominant brown suggests the dying referred to in the title but doesn’t carry it off for me.

Allows Edits? YesI agree with Beth, Patrick, and Light& Shadow re how to reshoot. In terms of working with the image you have, I would crop way in and drop the highlights & sharpen a bit. (I did this with the limited tools in “Photos,” since I don’t have LR/PS with me.)
I’ve been away from LS for awhile – crazed life – so I don’t know if people still edit other’s photos in Shark Tank if the poster says ‘yes.’ Anyway, Rob, here’s my suggested edit.
