Thanks, Robert! I’m just a sucker for textures in nature. I’ve guess I’ve shot very little “true macro”. I should really do more. I do love “small scenes”!

I must admit this is a tricky one. Because I spent a lot of my photographic life trying to do good macro and have totally absorbed myself in the world of macro. For me its very specific. 1:1 life-size and above is macro, below that is close up. But the borders have become blurred and everyone tends to call any close up photo Macro.

It didn’t help that lens manufacturers insist on putting the word on all their zoom lenses. Sorry but getting macro on a 75-300 is gonna be tricky lol.

Anyway, I’ll try to fit in with a lifesize cactus macro

Yes Larry, that is the official specifications of Macro and usually the specifications to enter a contest or for exhibitions.
However I meant “Macro” in terms for a very “Small” Landscape , so you could go a bit bigger, if you want.
The one I posted was about 2.5:1 taken over a moss bed in the forest.

60mm macro lens on 30mm worth of extension tubes mounted on an olympus air and on 1 inch tripod legs and controlled with a sansung tablet, the lens is roughly an 1/8 in from the moss as I remember, Ive got a photo of the set up somewhere. I shoot a lot of lichens amd mosses with it on the forest floor , the rig looks like something from war of the worlds.

An Olympus AIR, eh? I once looked at getting one of those. I’m sure it beats getting down on ones’s hands and knees to shoot macro via a traditional viewfinder.

I’m still found wallowering around on the ground. But this makes it much easier, pictured here with a lensbaby control freak fitted with a macro lens, on a gorilla pod. You can flip the legs around too and have it hovering slightly off the ground, I’ve even been known to dig a depression in the soil to stick it below ground level.

And for perspective one of the flowers I shot with this exact set up.

Dew drops on a sunny day, Ok I’m hooked I spent more time looking for worlds within worlds than the birds but that’s why I’m here.  Really like Robert Apple’s H.G.Wells tripod setup definitely lighter than the one I’m hauling around.

That’s a cool photo Michael, I  love that macro set up of mine,  you can still find the A1 out there and the code to run them  was open source, when I got mine they were  closing them out for $100 now used their around $350, but the nice thing about the M2/3 mount is you can adapt almost every lens ever made on to it.
