In this instalment we get to learn a little more about Frogdaily.
• Tell us a little about yourself and your photography journey.
I was so humbled and honored when I received the message that I had been chosen to be the featured member. I have always enjoyed photography – capturing those moments in time. I bought my first digital camera (Panasonic DMC-FZ50) in the later part of 2006. I pretty much kept it in automatic mode as I found the manual mode to be a bit daunting, but my husband, who also loves photography, encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone, so I took it slow and started learning to shoot in manual mode – I found it not to be as daunting as I originally thought. My husband is my biggest inspiration as we take this journey in life together.Last year my husband and I decided to take our photography to the next level; therefore, we each purchased the Big Deal photography bundle where we were introduced to several different photographers and their sites to help us in this journey. December 2015 we took the big plunge as my husband bought me a DSLR the EOS Canon 5D Mark III – What a Camera! I love it! So impressed with the quality – what a difference a really nice camera makes. Over the last six months I have really concentrated on learning my new camera, reading and watching tutorials on the various fundamental skills of photography, composition, lighting, post processing in Photoshop, fine art compositing, Luminosity masks, and have already seen a difference in my photos. My husband has been my biggest supporter in every way.
What I have learned at Lightstalking is the ability to critique and differentiate what draws me to a photo and what doesn’t. I continually read the critiques on other’s photos and learn from what others are saying.
I recently read an article by Kent DuFault “Why Rhythm Makes This Photo Rock” – Finding your rhythm in life and applying it to your photographs. My username frogdaily is a constant reminder to myself of the very essence of the rhythm in my life; to Fully Rely On God daily. This is my passion in life, living daily so that every aspect of my life glorifies God. A couple of my favorite Bible verses are: Colossians 3:17 “And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” and 1 Corinthians 10:31 “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all to the glory of God.”
Yes, I want to take my photography to the next level, but I also want to use it to glorify God – using my images in my blogs and social media sites; as Kent DuFault put it – Finding my own rhythm ‘the frogdaily twist’. I have 250,000 followers on Facebook for my online Bible studies and want to use my own photos to inspire others in their Christian life.
• Do you have a favourite type of photography?
I have always been drawn to Macro photography; it simply amazes me to see the details in things that you cannot see with your naked eye. I love close-ups of flowers – showing their beauty. However, since I have been on this journey the last six months, I have found a joy in compositing images – bringing to life a vision that you see and being able to pull that together to create a beautiful image.• If you could only use one camera/lens combination for a year, which would you choose?
I would choose the EOS Canon 5D Mark III / Canon EF24-70mm f/2.8L II USM Lens. It is a great overall lens where you can do multiple types of photography – close-ups; landscape, portrait … simply an amazing lens.• What is your biggest challenge when it comes to photography?
The biggest challenge for me has been that I started with the Big Deal photography bundle and was inundated with so many different groups that I found myself not being able to keep up with each one – trying to learn to many things all at once … I had to stop and just pick from a few that I would follow and learn from them.• Is there anything specific you intend to learn or improve in your photography?
Yes, this is a journey that will be ongoing – constantly evolving over time.• If people want to follow more of your work where should they go?

It’s nice to know more about you @frogdaily. We are in agreement about the the Canon EF24-70mm f/2.8L II USM Lens
KelbyOne has some classes on compositing that you may find worth while. Topics such as matching the light, unifying the colour and cementing the image are covered. Cheers. – Rob

Hi Frogdaily,
I have been reading your story over and over and was not quite sure how to react since like Mistyisle says: “Some of the views we have are not shared”. But then I thought, that does not matter. Actually, on the contrary.
One on the cool things of LS, so many different people, living their life in so many different ways and views but with a common passion, photography. Now we know who you are, what drives you and that it is Mrs. Frogdaily but maybe it should be Catdaily because I love your cat shots. Well actually Sami shots. What a beauty and always nicely captured by you!
And like Robert, I have not seen a single frog shot. (or is your husband French?)
Warmest regards from Amsterdam,
Erik. -

Well, what an interesting read – and so revealing! Here I was, believing that you’re a man (just because!) and that your forum name has something to do with frogs! 🙂
Since we’re sharing the same Christian values and I believe you’ve joined LS only after I’ve posted a thread about my grandchild, I think you’ll enjoy and appreciate this video. Long story but she was born with a few heart defects. Her first big heart operation at 8 weeks. Her 2nd heart operation a year ago (just after her 3rd birthday) when she was on the brink of death. Her pediatrician told us to not let her go through the operation – rather take her home and enjoy the last few days with her. Her surgeon said he’s prepared to take the risk. We went for the last option. Then ICU came: brain dead, a stroke, lung collapses. 6 weeks heavily sedated to prevent her from waking up. Prayer groups all over the world begging for her life. After waking her up she had to start walking again – one step at a time. Two weeks later she was driving up and down the passage at home on her electric motor bike! A miracle forged in grace from Above? What else?
The video starts with a shot taken the day before she went to hospital. Look at those black lips caused by a shortage of oxygen.

Allows Edits? NoWhat a precious miracle @tobie, very emotional to watch – love her smile! I have another friend that I met through Facebook – her daughter also born with heart defect and had to have heart surgery – have seen her go through each milestone – such a sweet young girl … Your granddaughter is so precious Tobie and I know the Lord is watching over her. I will keep her in my prayers… Blessings to you my friend

Thanks @frogdaily – your prayers will be appreciated!
Her next big operation was planned for when she’s about 6 years old but she’s extracting so much out of life that she starts showing signs of oxygen shortages again from time to time. So – we don’t know if she’d be able to hang on for that long without suffering. It thus may happen sooner and it makes our tummies turn because this time the doctors have no idea how to solve the next challenge…

Allows Edits? NoI’m so sorry @tobie, I know it is very difficult to see her struggle – you all will be in our prayers … Will also pray for the Drs’ wisdom on how to treat her. One thing we know as Christians is that God is always with us through the good times and the bad and we draw our strength in adversity through Him. Blessings to you and your family
