This time around we learn a little more about Patrick, @patrickw

• Tell us a little about yourself and your photography journey.

My name is Patrick and I’m from Belfast, North of Ireland.

I have a deep passion for art and nature, I have done for many years.

I have always enjoyed looking at photos of wildlife and fine art landscape photos which then led me to one day try and combine all three , Landscapes , Art and nature hence why I decided to pursue photography in April 2019.

I soon noticed Photography allowed me to capture the landscape and nature in a way that I could never do with a paint brush and since then I have been constantly shooting and learning as much as I can everyday.

• What is the best advice you have received so far regarding photography?

The best and most valuable advice I have received is surprisingly simple and that is ”shoot what you love.”

• How do you maintain inspiration?

I’m inspired every week through browsing other photographers work on social media and here within The Light stalking community.

My inspiration is greatly driven by members in the Light stalking community who are always producing quality work which helps to keep me driven to improve my own photography.

• What is your favourite subject to shoot & why?

I enjoy taking photos of animals in their natural habitats and learning more about their behaviours.

• Do you have a favourite type of photography?

I enjoy shooting a range of photography styles however I personally find that wildlife photography is at the top of my list, it feels the most natural to me due to my love for the outdoors.

• How would you describe your photographic journey to date?

I’m a self-taught photographer but have gained a lot of valuable information and help through Youtube, articles, blog-posts and The Light stalking Community’s weekly challenges.

• Are you currently involved with any photography projects? If so, what?

I’m not currently involved in a project although I had planned to take on a macro project before the public health restrictions were introduced, so for now I have to keep it on the back burner.

• If you could only use one camera/lens combination for a year, which would you choose?

My personal choice would be to use a Nikon D850 with the 600mm f/4 Lens

• What is your favourite image right now?

I think I would chose this little Robin who was spotted on my yard fence.

• Is there a photographer that inspires you?

STEVE PERRY inspires me greatly, I find Steve’s work and his advice solid and easy to follow – I do have many people I look to for inspiration though.

• What is your biggest challenge when it comes to photography?

My biggest challenge for me is post-processing my images.

• Is there anything specific you intend to learn or improve in your photography?

Again, I would like to improve my post-processing.
