Allows Edits? YesI like heystacks scattered aroud and clouds above (scattered around too like some reflection of ground heystacks). I like postprocess too.
ST: the right bottom vignette is maybe too much…. -

Allows Edits? YesHi Daniel, the image looks awesome. I think the vignette is a just too much in the corners 🙂

Allows Edits? YesHi Daniel, I like the aspect ratio and the processing, but agree with the others about the vignette.

What was your vision for the photo? Was it to show the entirety of hte sene or was it to emphasize the two hay cylinders in he centerbotttom. I c hav a hard time forcing my eye beyond the two hay cylinders. If , as I suspect< the intent was to show a bucolic rural agrarian landscape, rather than the two hay cylinders, then I don’t know what could be done to de-emphasize those two cylinders. i started with B&W film photography so I’m a bit of a zone system purist. I’d like to see a few areas of deep pure blacks and a precious few areas of pure white in the specular highlights. I also agree with the others about the vignette. Losing hte vignette might even help by not directing the viewer’s eye so strongly to the two central hay cylindersHere’s a doctored photo (in Apple’s Preview app) with punched up contrast a bit less overall exposure and the high tones are re-emphssized , Now, If I can remember how to attach a photo to a reply.

Allows Edits? YesSolid shot. Could do with a little more foreground. No need to overcook the processing cos it’s already solid.

Daniel, this is a hard one to appreciate on a phone but looks great bigger. According to some people, ha ha ha, I like BW a little “over cooked” so I like the processing on this and I like the vignette for a kinda olde timey look.

Allows Edits? YesYou should get yourself some old lenses, @el-dub 😉

@admin Rob, I would love to use old lenses but without a camera shop handy here in Mexico… I do have a set of Holga toy camera lenses for Canon that are a lot of fun and it feels so wicked to put a 15 dollar lens on a nice DSLR, lots of vignetting in camera.

Allows Edits? Yes@drkrueger22 Aspect ratio is perfect for this scene but I would remove vignetting.

Agree with Jasenka…………..vignettes are used to draw the viewers eye towards the subject instead of composition…………..ie overused

I like your vision with this one and the aspect ratio you chose. With a white brush, I tried to lighten your vignetting as suggested by others. ( some strange “misting” in lower right corner.). I see a relationship between the rolled bales and the puffy shape of some lower clouds, so I brightened them with touches of the white brush. I tried to darken shadows coming off the bales, too, as light appears to be coming in from the left. I even added a wide swatch of light along the left edge. Subtle changes to your interesting photo.

The particular area which worries me, Daniel, is the far right, on two counts. First, the dark upper cloud which has “misting”, plus the bottom area almost directly below, which has some peculiar “ghosting”. Presuming that you cannot fix either/both of these two, then I suggest a crop of that area.

First, thanks for your feedback.
I took another attempt at this photo and took your feedback and approached it with a simpler mind. I took out the vignette and burning around the right side, and just let the photo sort of “be”. I kept the long/wide crop and tried to focus on the bales and have the clouds compliment the open space. I tried to give it a bit more foreground while trying to maintain as much of the horizon as I could before I hit the water tower. I thought the water tower just confused everything and broke the continuity of the horizon.
I’ve also included the original shot from that day as well as a reference.
Do you see that weird banding on the right side? I’m not sure how that got there.
Well anyway, take a look Thanks!!

Allows Edits? YesI did some more poking around, the issue is definitely with Photoshop. There seems to be something off with these layers. It’s like it stops. Short. I’ve never seen that before.
I’ve used this technique in the past without a problem. Any ideas?

Allows Edits? YesI really like your new version Daniel, it’s quite different to your original. I can see the banding, but I’m not an expert with Photoshop, so I can’t help.
