Hello everyone from the Lightstalking family, I am Matthew and I am from Edmonton, Alberta in the Canadian West. I have been involved in photography for about 5 years now, but I was introduced to photography about 40 years ago by my cousin who was a photographer and educator but sadly she left to continue her education and is now the head trainer for the Montessori group. When I left the trucking industry 10 years ago I was looking for what I might do next and after a few years and a lot of YouTube I bought my first DSLR in 2016 just into the New year. I promised myself that I would work harder than ever before at learning and studying (I hated school). I have never looked back and have loved every minute.
I love what I do and getting into wildlife photography was the best thing I ever did. I also make photos of insects and with very cold winters where I am and had psoriatic arthritis I’ll be studying product photography this winter until spring the end of May next year. I have built a studio in my basement to learn and make photos and I’m sure it will be fun learning new compositions and OCF.
I am hoping to find a few helpful hints along the way from the community at Lightstalking and come out of my hole in the spring knowing a lot of great lessons. Thank you all in advance and I hope you have a great time shooting.
Matthew from Edmonton.
