I love this shot! But it has gotten mixed reviews. It was taken in the Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill, near Harrodsburg, Kentucky. I think the window is the star. Some reject the chairtop poking into the frame. But I’m one of those weird, vanishing, “crop-in-the-viewfinder” folks. I think the chair adds to the sense of place. COMMENTS?

I love “Window” shots! I’m goining to mention the two things that struck me immediately. They may seem a bit pedantic but hey, thats what this is about 😀
1. The image alignment is a bit off. I would rotate it slightly clockwise to square it up.
2. Exposure. Shooting into a bright light from a darkened room will always test exposure balance. I would adjust the highlights and shadows settings to balance the overall image.

Stephen, I see what you mean. Your remarks got me to thinking.
I had not looked closely at this image in years. I don’t think it was ever quite level. I tried to get the right wall plumb when shot it. Now, if it is rotated to level the bottom, I think it tilts to the right.
The exposure is off, quite off, from the original scan in my old Kodachrome gallery (https://www.cybrdr.com/details/index.html). I think I know what happened. In 2017 I sent these slides in to have ultrahigh resolution scans made. I believe the lab “auto-exposed” this one to give the result shown above. I have used these scans ever since. Yes, it is quite bright, but I remember that the linen drapes had a glow about them. Plus, the walls were a light gray. I think this new version represents the scene much better. Thanks for your very welcome feedback!
