I’ve been watching Thomas Heaton’s YouTube channel for a while. I noticed that he was snapping filters onto his lenses and even heard him refer to that once. I had no idea….

I decided to purchase a set of magnetic filters and am truly amazed at how much I like them over the screw-on’s that I thought was my only choice (except for the square sets, mainly of graduated filters). I recommend them. They are so much quicker to attach and detach and more accurate–less likely to misalign and have the thing fall off.

They sound really good Steve, I might get some. I’ve got magnetic aperture plates on my Lensbaby, and they are so easy to use as well.

Yeah, I have been a bit jealous of those when I see them on his videos. I have a set of Lee filters that I really paid too much for and barely use. Don’t get me wrong they are basically optically perfect but if I’m honest, I find them a little boring and they are certainly very fiddly. The rubber around the edges also tends to get a little bit messed up if you’re not perfectly careful, which is annoying when it all cost so much. If I have my time over, I would definitely be looking for the magnetic ones and not worry too much about the optical perfection.
