      Butterflies are just now beginning to show up in the yard. Hoping to see some like this one I saw a couple of years ago. Pentax K-50 W/ 18-135mm WR lens @53mm.

      That’s a gorgeous butterfly! I like the interplay of patterns on its wings and in the background.

      Thanks all for the kind words. 🙂 Sadly Monarch butterfly numbers have dropped 90% over the last twenty years. We’ve planted milkweed in our yard hoping to encourage some to stop by and hang out. This shot was taken at the Butterfly Pavilion in Elkton Oregon where they raise and release both Monarch and Painted Lady butterflies.
