The image above was loosely inspired by this image from Rodney matthews i first seen nearly 30 years ago , the image freaked me out at the time i felt it a sinister mood at the time but it has remained a fav all this time like many of his works , the point of this reply is i often get asked how to do i come up with some of the pics share and well this is a perfect example of that but with my own interpretation or as best i can .

Ha , true mate thanks, I think after spending so long focusing on the technical perfection side of things, I eventually just hit a wall. To keep the passion alive, I had to start looking in those ‘diverse’ places. It’s the only way I can keep the work honest to how I’m feeling these days.

I mean, I’m never happy with my technical knowledge but by the same token, I think I can take a reasonable photo based on at least some technical knowledge. That’s why I love going to this forum and seeing what other people are doing. So many new ideas and a lot of unexpected stuff.

I remember when i first started doing street photos i was carrying lenses i thought i might need for this shot and that shot , i spent more time wondering what focal length i should be using so i ended up thinking more about those things and spending more time worrying about DOF than about depth of feeling , I rarely use anything else now than 35mm unless the shot needs something more.

Thanks a lot mate , liverpool has lots of lovely old streets that make for a nice backdrop for street photography , the docks area still has gorgeous rustic brick warehouses that are very photogenic.

Allows Edits? YesI think the problem with travelling is that you have to keep moving. Pretty much any city I’ve been to I could happily spend months in just exploring the back alley and places that nobody really goes. Hell, I do it here in Sydney.

yeah i agree with that fully , when i go shooting street i always go into town or around that type of foot traffic yet i have only shot the odd image locally and it is ashame because there is much that takes my curiosity , the problem in this place mate due to our history walking about with a camera would only draw eyes to you like a magnet much more and far faster than most other places , in busy spots its ok but not locally in tight nit communities.

Many thanks Dahlia , love the few days i had there i keep saying i will go back , its only 45 mins on flight away , i thought about going just for a full day but it would still mean very early start and i would feel like i am rushing to fit it all in and that is a no go all that rushing about.
