You are going to laugh… I use a black board on my coffee table. Two florescent lamps one on each end behind me and my tripod and my 100mm lens. I also had a chair with a white board to soften the light.
As I said I am just starting out and want to learn. Don’t even know what to get as a starter for lighting.

Ingenuity is the best teacher. You probably learned a great deal about lighting in the process. Good job.

No laughing matter at all it worked very well. I’ve heard of people using black boards as a backdrop, nearly anything would do I guess. Even a white board cut to the shape of a softbox with a good flash inside could work or vice versa but not too good for traveling. Beautiful photo. @docworks
