Allows Edits? YesOf the many challenges I once avoided, shooting in the night has earned it’s place in my mind. Nowadays, such circumstances are eagerly embraced; thanks to the aid of practical lighting and a reliable camera with a decent iso/noise relationship. Said that, I consider the following frame to grasp that spirit of the night that makes us feel confident in the strangeness of the night.

Due to long-exposure capabilities, digital cameras cope with the absence of light in a seamless fashion to say the least. Contrary to the dark one expects while night-walking under the rising moon’s light, here we are presented with a burst of colour seasoned with a rich tonal range.
Thanks @patography for delighting us with your visual craft.

Allows Edits? YesThank you, Federico. A real honor. I, ,too, used to avoid night shots if at all possible. Now, I am finding them fascinating to capture and process.

Allows Edits? Yessome years ago, a colleague encouraged me to use “pocket” size LED light for video, they come with some gel filters and are extremely fun to use and helpful when dealing with low-light situations https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004TJ6JH6

Allows Edits? Yes@reyers, @dahliaambrose, @federicoalegria @patrickw-2 If/when you come to Portland, Maine, we will go out to dinner here on the waterfront in this floating restaurant. This is a little history behind the restaurant – a former car ferry in it’s “first life”. Pricey but a unique experience.
“DiMillo’s Floating Restaurant, a Portland, Maine, landmark, has a unique history rooted in a repurposed car ferry. Originally a ferry service between New Castle, Delaware, and Pennsville, New Jersey, then Norfolk and Hampton, Virginia, and finally between Newport and Jamestown, Rhode Island, it was purchased by Tony DiMillo in 1980. After extensive renovations, it opened as DiMillo’s Floating Restaurant in December 1982, becoming the only floating restaurant on the upper East Coast.
Here’s a more detailed look at the history:
Early Days:
Tony DiMillo started his restaurant business in 1954 with “Anthony’s” on Fore Street in Portland, later moving it to Center Street.
Acquisition of the Ferry:
In 1980, Tony DiMillo bought the old car ferry for $80,000, envisioning it as a unique dining experience.
Transformation:
The ferry, originally named “The New York” and later “The Newport,” was extensively refurbished at Bath Iron Works to become DiMillo’s Floating Restaurant.
Opening:
DiMillo’s Floating Restaurant officially opened its doors in December 1982.
Legacy:
The restaurant, known for its fresh seafood and waterfront location, remains a popular destination in Portland, with the DiMillo family continuing to operate it. “-
