Photo of the Week – August 29th

Vertical composition has always intrigued and fascinated me. Since I can reckon, my mom has always approached photographic scenes in this so-called portrait mode. On the other hand, I rarely shoot with this style. For me, keeping a harmonious array of visual elements within the frame is always challenging.

Here, Michael enlightened us with a shot that screams verticality. The colour palette is simple yet bright, and the leading line from the stair makes it easy to read. Betwixt the grandeur of the scene, not one but two sub-frames! One from the bridge, and the other from the waterfall’s pit.

Thank you, Federico for your selection of my image. This is from Watkins Glen State Park near Seneca Lake, New York. I definitely was inspired by the natural beauty of this location. It made my job easy.
