Photo of the Week—February 13th

Shadows have fascinated painters and photographers forever, and as we’ve witnessed in the weeks prior to this, they can be approached in various ways. For the current call, natural shadows accompanied with form, detail and texture were requested.

Various images met the criteria, but this one in specific stood out from the crowd. Yes, the crisp shape being projected on the squirrel is notorious but also the depth produced by the obscure area in the back enhances the overall volume of the scene.

Not to mention that is also a wild-life catch, which means acting quick. Exposure has to be right, camera has to be sturdy and lens has to be reliable and sharp. Everything came together in this fantastic shot, thanks @tersha for sharing it with us and congrats on the POTW!
