Hi there folks, sorry for leaving this periodical unattended for so long; while gone, I’ve been frolicking with some data from our main site. Back to our weekly visual indulgence, @davidc shared this tight composition under the texture of life photography challenge.

“Hands of stone” got my immediate attention since I’ve been working a documentary project on rock climbing culture. Compositionally, is with the balance between textures and the notorious tension of the body that the story gets told. Not to mention the evenly tuned colours mixing blueish and yellowish tones.

Nicely done, Dave. Seeing is the hardest part. Naming always interests me and, as so often happens, defines the intent–important to help people unacquainted with an activity or scene understand. I’d like to see more.

Hi Federico. One of my daughter, son in-law and now Granddaughter are climbers. His Dad was a climber, unfortunately he died whilst climbing in Sardinia. Came off a route, walking back then had a massive heart attack. The collection at his funeral went to the climbers in Sardinia towards cleaning and re-cleating  routes. he has a plaque on one of the routes. I looked through some off the journals he had for routes he had done, It was like some kind of secret code. Lovely man, like a lot of climbers a very dry senses of humour. The funeral was packed with climbers from all over, and they did have a different view of life than other people.
