Thanks to the adventurous kind holding this human-based digital platform, we are pretty used to clean aerial photographs with clear compositional intentions. Therefore, it was no surprise that many of the images posted last week were up the challenge. However, this beautiful piece of visual craft got my attention longer than the rest:

There’s something about the shape, contour and the vibrant colour that makes it memorable. In fact, I saw the image in the morning and I’m writing this down several hours later, and the image just stuck in my brain. Thanks @rshattil for making this aesthetic experience possible!

Congrats!  Agree with Federico, this is arresting.  What is the red area?

Salt evaporation ponds turn pink from the high concentration of salt-loving microorganisms, specifically a type of algae called Dunaliella salina and halobacteria. As water evaporates and salinity increases, these organisms produce a red-orange pigment, often beta-carotene, as a natural sunscreen to protect themselves from the high solar radiation and high salt content.

Fascinating info, Click, thanks.  Organisms producing their own sunscreen. Very cool.
