One of a set I did with the idea of capturing the sense of vast space that comes with open horizons.

Wow I have not seen one of these for years. They littered the landscape around the city of Detroit when I was young. They had been built for WWII.

They still seem to be popular with Colorado farmers. I think for their inexpensive construction and ability to hold up the weight of heavy snow.

Allows Edits? YesNice shot Bruce. Certainly shows the wide open spaces and the sun burst kind of emphasises the isolation bearing down on the dwellers.
As a 10 pound Pom (that’s what it costs to migrate to Australia back in the 60’s), our first abode was a Nissan Hut in a hostel where we stayed until my father could find work and a house to live in. Fond memories as a child but it was tough going for my parents with a young family no doubt. This is the place with my sister out the front. Its one of those old slides I discovered recently.

That’s so cool Graham! Thanks for sharing a bit of your personal history; I love to hear how people came to be who they are where they are. We are all part of a great story!

Allows Edits? YesI’m with you Bruce. Seeing these old pics again after so long and being into photography now, lets me see them in an entirely different light. I’m not just remembering a time period but being present again in those particular moments in time. Probably playing around with them in PR and PS has something to do with it as well 🙂

Very cool Bruce, definitely conveys what you wanted. Thanks Graham, for your photo too. I bet you had a lot of good memories in one of those, but I would imagine they were really hot in summer, and really cold in winter?

Allows Edits? YesOh yeah. You got that right! Speaking of hot, my strongest memory of the place was when I broke apart a bunch of fire crackers (which were still legal then) to make a mound of gunpowder right there on the pavement in front of my sister. When I lit it up, I lost all the hair on my forehead and both eyebrows 🙁 .

I’m sorry, but I laughed out loud when I read that Graham. I would give anything to have seen the look on your face, with no eyebrows and singed hair! Oh my, the things we got up to as kids, eh? ‘Seemed like a good idea at the time!’
Thanks for sharing that; it made my day!
Bruce
