  Visibility on this part of the Blue Ridge Parkway was about 20 feet in places. Temp was in the mid 50’s F. No grand vistas on June 7, but other charms from our just completed trip to the mountains.

      LOL, I really don’t mind the fog either, I remember as a child standing in the fog near the lake of the woods howling with the wolves.

    Thank you. Robert and someone from another site saw an ominous scene. I see quiet and calm. Always interested in the variety of moods evoked among viewers.

    Geesh! Another vote for a sense of threat and danger. The dark mood seems to predominate a wide swath of the viewing audience.

      Do you remember the Kids book Miffy? It was a Japanese cartoon rabbit. The Japanese do this thing where they draw cartoons with a perfectly neutral face so that children can project their own feelings onto the face. When I was a kid, I always saw Miffy as really sad at needing a cuddle. I was surprised when I found that other people actually saw Miffy as a smiling and happy character. When I lived in Japan, somebody told me that this is exactly why character animators do this. I suppose the same thing might be happening with your image. We are projecting our own in a psyches onto what it means.

    It’s a short path from the pull-off along the Blue Ridge Parkway down to a platform overlooking the veeerrrry steep drop-off. Elevation change from there to the valley floor is over 2000 feet. In conditions that day, there was little to see–other than something like this
    
    The tilt of the land is actual. The camera was level.
