I did write a description re photo but don’t know what happened to it. To cut story short this is my first attempt at sport photography showing a six being hit at a village cricket match in Lancashire.

Another good one. The white sheeting on the ground is unfortunate. 1/100 seconds before would have kept the bat from overlapping the face. Again, not much to offer.
what was the shutter speed on these 2?

Allows Edits? YesPretty good timing. Shame, as steve said, that the bat touches his face.
That fielder behind his is very big and very bright meaning he competes with the batsman for attention so it’s probably worthwhile keeping visual weight in mind for where you stand. You might be able to correct that a little by bringing down the exposure on the fielder slightly, but not much you can do about his size.
These cricket shots are pretty solid for a first time out. Something I would suggest you keep revisiting if you have the opportunity to.

Allows Edits? YesAhh Lancashire, my old stomping ground (I was born in Bamber Bridge near Preston). Can’t really add anything to what’s been said but I do think it’s a great ‘captured moment’. Another millisecond and that ball would be out of shot! I think the alignment of the bat, head and ball work quite well to enhance the action. The guy on the left and the tarpaulin in the background do pull the eye away a bit but the striker still holds sway. The shot invokes mental images of lagers all round post match. Love country sport.

Allows Edits? YesHi David, another great shot. Added to what other members have commented, you could crop off the slightly dark area of the ground on the bottom left 🙂

Thanks for comments everybody. The white sheeting is unfortunate but changing position would give even worse backgrounds. I worked with what I had got. Timing v difficult with fast moving ball. Agree re big fielder – will try to tone down.
Graham you may remember Edenfield, nr Ramsbottom. That is where taken.

Allows Edits? YesSomething about watching cricket in England. I found it so much nicer than here in Australia where the heat usually murders you.
