This was taken looking toward Anaconda, Montana. The stack is what is left of the old smelter works. It is the tallest free standing brick structure in the U.S. It also stands as a testament to the glory days of mining in the state. For me the scene was too good to pass up.

Allows Edits? YesMy wife said she had never heard of it or seen it , after seeing the photos and reading about it she couldn’t believe she missed it.

Thank you Robert! That is hard to believe. It is the first thing from my childhood that I think of when you say ‘Anaconda’. I remember as a kid and later as a young man seeing the smoke rising from the stack at the smelter.

Great shot and great timing to maximize the sunset in the photo.

Thank you! I have learned with sunsets, to get there early and stay late. Just when you think it is a bust, something happens.

Thank you Dahlia! I was fortunate as there were hardly any clouds and I waited for this one in the hopes it would come together.
