I formatted my Mac and now Lightroom is FLYING. So I am going back through my collection and editing stuff that I never got a chance to before.

I took this in New Zealand in 2011. Just went out driving with no destination in mind and stumbled across it (pre kids obviously lol).

        What would you do differently?

Lovely old place , as for feedback the building on my monitor looks very bright compared to the actual scene , it is like two seperate lighting conditions 🙂

the pic wasn’t showing up for me at first, but this was worth the wait.  love the tones and colors.  it feels very much like something i’d produce.

i’d lose the light shaft, you don’t need it.  the centralized comp. and size of the church gives it enough spotlight.  i’d brighten the top front of the church so it matches the light at the bottom (presumably the entire front is getting the same light and the main source of light is behind the church).  i’d lighten the background a little more so the church matches, but still try to keep the dark moodiness.

I really like the subdued colors and dark tones, that sky almost giving a forbidding mood. That mood suits me and it also provides an interesting juxtaposition with the usual hopefulness so often attached to religion and places of worship.

I think I might have preferred the church off-center and lower in the frame with more of the fence and sky on the left. The church itself seems a bit squashed and distorted. I am pretty sure that’s the building itself and not some artifact of the camera/processing.
