  Asteraceae is a large family of flowering plants that consists of over 32,000 known species in over 1,900 genera within the order Asterales. Asteraceae were first described in the year 1740 , The family is commonly known as the aster, daisy, composite, or sunflower family.
  
  I thought this would make an interesting throw down after seeing one of Steve’s photos and during the identification discovered this family of flowers grows on every continent on earth.
  
  So find them where you live and take a pic. And post where you found it and the name , or just what you can discover and maybe other members can help with the name.

    Somehow, the near departing blooms garner my attention, often more than the youngsters in full show-offy color.

      I feel the same Steve on flower stages, like your picture of the Frost Aster , so named because it is one of the latest blooming flowers of the growing season, often surviving the first couple frosts.
      And if you didn’t already figure it out, it fits this throw down.

      Thanks, Robert! These are wild in Texas Hill Country, a mix of daisies with bluebonnets & prairie verbena. I have a funny story. I once asked a boss for some time off on a Friday. “Why?” he asked. I told him my spouse was taking me to Hill Country (about 3 hours away) to see the bluebonnets. He responded, “Boy, I’m glad I’m not married to YOU!” I asked him what he did for fun, and he said he liked to follow the stock market (a CPA). And I thought to myself, “Boy, and I’m glad I’m not married to YOU!” lol
