Allows Edits? YesWe haven’t had a general composition throwdown in a while, so I thought I would fire up a new one.

Thank you so much Dahlia , i remember seeing a fine art frame ( i don’t recall who by ) but they had a small series of decayed flowers but the setting was a graveyard and it was all very natural , cobwebs ,ern , scattered petals all decayed and ever since i have tried to do my own but no such luck , still trying 🙂 , something about decaying roses in both color and mono look awesome under the good light and color pallet that looks old /aged.

Thanks, Tersha! I open my image in Krita (free download at krita.org), then select G’MIC-Qt. Look in “Available Filters,” select “Artistic,” then “Cubism.” You can adjust the slider options however you like, the click on “OK.” I then finish with the filter “Paint with Brush.”

Allows Edits? YesPatrick, you’re coming up with such a interesting body of work that your next problem is actually going to be displaying it. I think it’s impact as a collection would be quite striking.
-
November 7, 2025 at 6:16 am #541329
Thank you for the kind words mate , you know i am starting to think people like Vivian Maier maybe was not at all secret or private on purpose as some claim she was by having so much work undeveloped , some just shoot so often there is never time to get them developed it is a case of always shooting and looking for that NEXT image leaves no time for organising the work and this builds up so much its it become impossible to do on your own.

Allows Edits? YesFinding a way to display a body of work with minimal time spent tending to the demands of a full on website can be daunting. For all its faults, Flickr is still cost effective and minimally demanding. A free account allows you to post 1000 images (I think). You can set up albums as simple as month/year rather than thinking up subject headings or categories unless you want to. Getting people to locate you and check on your collection might be hard; but, as with everything else, friends can just bookmark it and find their way back. Or you could define groups in your email client to send out reminder links when a significant new set goes online. It would actually be simpler than posting here though far from and definitely not a replacement.
-
November 7, 2025 at 1:11 pm #541338
Thanks mate, I really appreciate the Flickr suggestion—it’s definitely a smart, low-friction way to manage a large archive.
I think for now, I’m just focusing on the daily shooting and connecting on IG mostly and here at Ls. I prioritize that ‘living, breathing’ side of photography over building a big, online archive. If my 9 years so far of work ends up only living there, I’m good with that being the record at least that is how i feel today but i could change my mind over time.

Allows Edits? YesI understand. For me, the attraction of an organized and visible collection is that it makes it simpler for family and friends to keep track of what I’m up to over time. For most of them, my photography is an aid to memory; and, so, is sort of a gift. Any artistry is secondary though I like to think it boosts the feeling they have about the recollection.
-
November 9, 2025 at 6:32 am #541388
It would be an extra bonus for me if my family cared about my images but the truth is they are not , other than a simple oh that’s nice or that is strange which is what most friends and family do in my own experience , god bless them … i guess we are lucky in some ways , years ago photographers that passed away that then had their work uncovered by someone else years later and with some far fetched story attracted on what the images mean or were about , at least today we can share as much as we like and tell our own story as we go rather than someone else do it for us years later.
A Kind of a USE it or LOSE it idea.

A side street near the city in belfast , this whole area is all due for major regeneration work , there is some legal street art walls in there as well but they will all go over time , the big building on the left with no windows has been empty for years and years and about 5 months ago it was set on fire which caused a lot of concern , the sooner the better that they get to work , the problem is a company from the usa bought all the land with the promise to re generate the whole area they have been sitting on it for over 15 years and it has been an eyesore for so long the city council are looking at doing a compulsory order to purchase the land back from this group as they can’t wait any longer … Typical developers holding out for bigger profits , the council should have done this years ago.

Allows Edits? YesRobert doesn’t like these areas, but they are the exact place I go with a camera every time I find them. It has led to some hairy situations more than once. lol

Allows Edits? YesI really like this one, mate. It’s an utter rejection of typical composition rules, but as you’ve shown you can actually make that work really powerfully. Almost reminds me of one of those forest shots with all of the straight up and down trees.
