THROWDOWN …Foggy Fotos

Having a throwdown on foggy fotos just gives me a chance to share some from a series of pictures I took a couple of weeks ago while visiting old friends on Manitoulin Island in Northern Ontario, where I used to live. Waking up to two misty mornings in the country (one with a bright sunrise and one more sombre) were a delight…and the photo ops were irresistible. I’m sure others have discovered this too….so show me. Here are some of my favourites:

Fog seems to make a mundane scene ethereal, gives it an almost magical feel.

These two were from a series I posted a while back on early mornings, haven’t had much fog around since then to take any more.

@susan …those are both quite beautiful…I especially like the second one…reminds me of the scene I was shooting with the warm orange sunrise colours in the landscape…very nice. 🙂

It’s beautiful @funnyghost… very moody. Love the colour and clarity of the leaves contrasted with the muted foggy areas. Nice one. 🙂

Thanks Karen…this is a common phenomenon at this location…many mornings, the mist lies in layers and when the sun comes up, it lights those layers up in various shades, depending on the qualities of air and clouds and time of year. I’ve seen this often while visiting my friends here and this was the first time I got up early enough to take pictures of it…worth the effort. 🙂

This is an old one from three years ago (maybe even three years to the day!)… London has a fantastic atmosphere when it gets really dense fog.

@catz …love these photos…those kind of days are awesome. you captured the mood so well…with just the right amount of colour in the mist. It was the same kind of day when I took the picture of the couple in the fog/mist… that’s magic for a photographer, isn’t it? 🙂

I have to look at my computer for the camera settings…pulling this one from my iPad saved images. It was so foggy and still it looked like the peninsula was floating on air instead of sticking out into water.
