Now and again we find ourselves in situations which touch us emotionally. We take the shot but know that unless someone was there in person, they will not fully understand. Let’s see yours. With the story behind it.
This day we had the privilege of accompanying a few rangers in patrolling a specific area around a small dam in one of our most beautiful game reserves. It took us an hour to find 14 snares set up within 100m of the dam. It was heartbreaking to think that an animal could get caught and suffer for days before eventually dying of hunger or thirst. Unless the poachers find it soon – which hardly ever happens – and kill it.
These are the heroes who have to face these poachers every day – and sometimes pay for it with their lives.

For those who don’t know, I was a photojournalist before getting into the more glam side of photography. I lost interest in photojournalism along the way, but there are some storytelling shots I took a long time ago.
