No he is my friends dog , while she and her husband are at work during the week i walk him , i have been walking him for the last five years .. If he could pick i know he would come live here in a heartbeat.

He lives next door to my sister so i see him that much you would think i owned him 🙂

My sister-in-law had a couple like that who would walk her German Shepherd every day and take them home to their place while she was at work.  They eventually asked if they could keep them and my sister-in-law said a definitive no. lol

I almost owned Olly but when he was first offered to me i had just lost my own lurcher and i could not face owning another so soon , i had just got into photography as well so i had that on my mind along with losing the dog , I decided to stick with the photography and look at getting a new pup somewhere down the line , the truth is was/ am doing so much photography i would not have the correct time required to own a dog fulltime , walking him allows me to keep my connection to our k9 world but i can hand him back to his owners at the end of a days outing :).

I think so mate , i saddens me to think i might never own another , Dogs on average can life for 15 years some a little more my first lurcher was 18 when she went i had stopped working her at the age of 10 so she had a good life .. but 15 years one needs to consider if they have that amount of time if you want to take a pup on , a big responsibility and one that needs 100% commitment.

Thank you so much Rob!  Lol, you would love a Siberian, they are so loving, energetic and very doglike.  Some Siberians are hypoallergenic as they have lower Fel D 1 protein which triggers allergens.  My husband and I are both allergic to cats but Sami is extremely low in the Fel D 1 protein and we are blessed that he does not trigger our allergies and is an indoor cat. He definitely rules our home.

The girl who lives next door to me owns one of these , the last time i was speaking to her she told me the same as you also a house cat only it was 17 at the time she was telling me about the type 🙂

Thank you Dahlia , i remember the look on the girls face , i could just see it said who he what’s he doing , i really hate that about shooting people i don’t like the feeling of ruining anyone’s day , thankfully it is not something i get a lot of when doing street , this was in a Park so maybe the dog walker was not expecting to be photographed especially by a guy .

A while back, I would take my very young kids out to the dog park pretty much every afternoon. After awhile I pretty much knew every dog owner and a lot of of the kid owners too. This gave me a huge amount of leeway when I wanted to bring out my big 70 to 200 to take photos of the dogs. I was never that great at it but it was a good way to improve because photographic animals is a very difficult thing when you’re used to mainly landscape photography.

The photos you posted portraits of your lads i found them always excellent pictures in how you shot them , it helps as well when you have two that can work with the camera and you 2 lads do it in a good way natural smilers 🙂 your younger boy his eyes smile as well 🙂 happy looking you man.

Thanks mate. I think I’ve treated them well to expect me to throw a camera in their face at almost every opportunity. The upside is there also into photography themselves. I can see them taking it up a bit more seriously when they’re older but the downside is that we’ve already been through four action cameras. The GoPro got little too much of a soaking last holidays, which was another expensive lesson.. LOL

The cost soon mounts up replacing things , great to know they have the photography to grow up with , that i would think would enrich anyone’s life in so many positive ways 🙂

He looks awesome, @frogdaily –  looks like he’s been in the family for quite a while. I live in the middle of the city so having a dog isn’t particularly practical but if I had a slightly larger house, I would almost certainly have one. And probably a bird, some fish, a couple of chickens, and possibly a goat. lol

Yes she is getting up in years.   he actually has two dogs and two cats and lives on 5 acres so lots of room to run. He has thought about getting chickens

My kind of person haha , my sister keeps chickens and was thinking about getting a goat , she had second thoughts about the goat , the idea of trying to catch an escaped goat on the mountain changed her mind , they will need to keep using the mowers lol 🙂

Goats are cool but they’re also dumb as hell and get very very attached to a human if you let them. So they will follow you around the whole time. They’re also really bad at breeding which means they would give birth on the side of a mountain in a storm quite happily rather than walking 100 m to a barn.

Your black-and-white never failed to elicit an internal response in me. In this one, I immediately feel sorry for the dog and wonder where his owner is. The black-and-white treatment draws me towards feeling bad for the dog.

In reality, I’m sure he is taken care of and loved. lol I guess that’s the power of the photographer.

Sundance Smiling for the Camera after a long day moving Cows.

Sundance is cool. I love working dogs. I love them so much that I will never own one while I live in the city. I don’t think people realise how far these dogs run.

“oh I will take them with me on my jog” just doesn’t cut it.

One of our neighbours had a border collie who would come to the park every afternoon. I felt so bad for him that I trained him to run to where I pointed so that I could make him run laps of the park. It still wasn’t enough, but it was better than what he was getting.

So I Posted Sundance looking as cute as can be after a long day of chasing cows. That was after a few hours rest. This is what it’s like immediately after.

This is typical of trying to get a photo of Sundance, there is always something in the way, he is in the shade or he takes off towards you when he sees you looking towards him.
But in this case he was a Masked Bandit and the shadow from the tree branch worked.

I think campers have been feeding him/her all summer. We no sooner arrived and it was hoping on my toe and looking up to see if I had anything. It’s that time of year when they store away food for the winter. Can they ever pack a lot into their cheeks before dashing off to hide it. The level of trust in such a small creature is inspiring.

Yeah, same thing happens here with the possums. Problem is sometimes if you don’t give them what they want they’ll just bite you.

We have a few possums that wander our yard at night. We leave them alone. Chipmunks bites are not really a thing.

Jajaja I never saw that Robert. Sure enough some “official” will pick up on the occurrence to tell the “commoners” what not to do. Maybe it’s the change in weather that’s driving the tree rats (squirrels)”nuts”. They do carry rabies sometimes, so there’s that. Fear of chipmunks though…nah. Maybe I’ll steer clear of California though LOL

You know Rob , he is the first springer i have ever had spent anytime with and for the first year of walking him everyone who i seen when i was passing said the same thing , everyone told me he must have must have me walked to death because they have so much energy , 5 years later they are right haha but lots of good memories , i would love to own him full time but i also know there is lots of times i could not have him with me for one reason or another and he is not the type that enjoys separation but most dogs are like that i suppose 🙂

I’m not sure about over there, but here there are a lot of “oodle” braids which are dogs cross bread with poodles. And almost universally, they are nuts. I don’t know. I think you need to be really careful when choosing a dog breed.  And I’m not sure the old classic mutt wouldn’t be it for me.

We have lots of them as well , Only one type of dog for me when it comes to owning and that is lurchers they have all the traits i look for in a dog , In general i like all the long dog and sighthound breeds the most and if i was getting a pup it would need to be from working parents.

Our neighbours Oodle literally needs to be on dog Prozac. Poor thing howls all day.

That and barking for no real reason is the two no no’s and if they do they only need told once to stop and they would , Those types of behaviour and if allowed to continue , some might say i do tell it to stop but it won’t listen is poor control and ownership to be honest.

Lol , those little sad faces don’t let that fool you mate these dogs live a life of luxury in reality spoilt rotten by the owners i am sure 🙂 , It’s the ones we don’t see i would be worried about after all dogs are a social type.

Some folks don’t even walk the dogs they let them run about a small yard and think that is sufficient, imagine that is the limit to you world , i can’t even bare the thoughts of it.

He stands in a large garden of a private home the sculpture stands just under a tree , i guess it must have been a spot it use to lay ( due to the visibility it would have through this gate i am shooting through ) it is made of Copper at least it looks that way as in the dry weather you can see all the patina on the metals , i am not sure which metal , copper, brass, bronze. but a gorgeous big irish wolfhound it was.

Tons of texture in it in real life so whatever metals that can be manipulated that way ?

I’ve mentioned my Wife’s finches before, got out the 12mm lensbaby fish eye and shot a few between the bars, the adult gouldians wouldn’t hold still so they got left out.
