At the top of Wind River Canyon Lies Boysen Resivour, the Lake of plenty, plenty of ants in every campground , Plenty of mosquitoes, plenty of biting flies , yet very expensive to stay there.

It’s fed by 2 rivers, a canal, and several creeks, one being Tough Creek, we followed the Tough Creek road for miles east, away from Boysen it’s location marked by several long dead trees.
We’re a ways down the road now.

There was a Gold / Silver / Copper rush here years ago,but they never found enough to make it worth mining. Abandoned mines litter the hills.

There was a 6ft deep wash out in the road so we parked and decided to,explore the Rock Formations.

Lots of different layers of minerals out here causing colored patterns in the rocks, or just Black.

Looks like some kind of desert aster was growing here in the past and the ground was littered with large chunks of the black volcanic rock basalt.

I couldn’t decide which depth of field I liked.

The only thing green seemed to be the yucca plants, the Sage wasn’t doing so hot.

We still had a pretty good view of Boysen Res 2 miles down the road

Back on the road we ended up on a plateau with sides 150 feet straight down , I saw this from the corner of my eye and stopped for a shot.

5 Miles down the road the lake was still peeking and we saw a whole lot of desert.

Find the single dead tree in the photo, that’s Tough Creek we had to drive across it to get here, and we’re lookin dead west, can’t see the Lake anymore.

But right behind me was this.

Allows Edits? YesBeautiful vast landscapes and photos Robert. The landscapes look like very tough terrains. Is it very hot out there? Saw the dead tree (right, just below the mountain line?)
Thank you for sharing the photos and the captions 🙂

Allows Edits? YesThanks Dahlia, and yes that is the tree. It’s still fairly cold here, and was last week when we were there, as winter is still hanging on into spring, but in the summer you can roast a chicken by laying it on tin foil in the sun.
