i’m reshooting this tonight, but here’s the rough draft. my combined may the fourth and cinco de mayo photo.
plans for tonight:
same photo, but raise the lowest strand of lights so it doesn’t run across the figures. i’ll light them correctly in photoshop this time.
larger dof, possibly some focus stacking. i’ll adjust the shutter speed to compensate.
turn the guy on the right so his instrument is more prominent
better lighting on the string instruments to show off the violin and guitar. i think holding an led panel overhead would give it enough light.
any other ideas, let me know. this is getting reshot tonight after my tour ends so (provided nothing crazy happens and i get stuck at work) anything suggested after 11pm est probably won’t be done.
edit: not sure if it’s my work monitor or flickr added some adjustments, but the shadow detail on the stairs in the foreground isn’t there anymore. it was when i edited.

I like your ideas Beth, I think it should look good …. one thought, the bottom right of the lit area, will that be lit when you lighten the shadow on the stairs, as I can’t make out what is there?

thanks tersha. they’re display containers for an alien market stall that i painted. they’re heavy and i was rushed last night, so i used them to hold up that archway, but i need to find another support if i remove them.
i probably won’t lighten the stairs since it just seems to be an issue with this forum.
