How do you get the black background?  The flower jumps out at the viewer.

A great non conventional mothers day shot Beth. But I can’t help but wonder how much ammo she had to burn up before you caught the muzzle flash.  🙂

she would have shot 100 rounds at various distances during the test, this looks like it was still pretty close to the target.  i pretty much just kept tapping the camera button until i got something.  she ended up passing the test for her instructor’s license.  she doesn’t teach or have any intention of doing so, but her instructor wants to make sure his new shooters know what they’re doing.

Passion fruit flower, with Australian Native Bee (Tetragonula carbonaria). For those interested these bees are stingless, and about the size of a gain of rice.

Not only lots of animal moms at the zoo…  they have some quite beautiful flowers as well.    I call this – Flower and Bee at the zoo. 🙂  I like that we can see the pollen on the bee’s legs and trickling down the flower petal.

The story is greater than the photography.  This houseplant was given to my wife by her mother to celebrate the birth of our daughter (40+ years ago).  The plant, like the daughter, has given birth to two children (ages 10 and 8).  Motherhood is the queen of nurturing; the plants and the extended family are all thriving.

Thank you. My wife’s vocation is nursing ( trauma/ER, case managment, insurance policy), and her avocation is gardening.

Image that I used for my Mum’s Mothers day card. I can’t post pics of her, as she doesn’t like photos of herself, much less posting them on the internet.
