Here in the Wales, UK, the sun is shining and the sky is blue….. it’s been a while since I could say that!
So, anything yellow or blue, brownie points for both!

Is that a filter you used to get the star-effect of the sun?  The details in the far clouds is beautiful.  And, makes me want to get on a plane to the Islands.

Gray, the starburst effect is straight from my Canon 16-35 f/4 lens, no filter used. This lens is well known for its starburst effect.

Thank you Diane, yesterday was the first day that gave a feeling that spring is on its way. The birds disagree, they have been singing their heart out even in heavy downpour for the last four weeks or so, its probably the light that does it. The image was shot with the Lensbaby Velvet.

pfttt – billyspad – your sarcasm does not fool me, this is great work and i know it took a lot of time, forethought, work and i say – Wonderful Job.   you don’t need to go archiving when you can create such things!

i like using my archives because they start so awful and here i am learning so much on improving my work that i am not totally embarrassed to share them.

it is nice to have a place where not only can i join a challenge and get some positive feedback (i do enjoy a pat on the back) but also get serious, critical critiquing in the Shark Tank (that has helped me develop a tough skin and learn and benefit from everyone’s knowledge).

Seen before but one of my favourite shots and one taken during my introduction to photography with my new mobile phone (at the time). I called this ‘The Crabbers’ because if you look closely, you can see some people on the right of the horizon line. This is at Thompson’s Beach and there is a gulf between the hazy distant hills and the yellow sand. People walk out to the water to rake for crabs at low tide then walk back with the tide as it floods in over the sand flats.

Light painting at Donnelly’s Castle in Queenslands Granite Belt.

Donnelly’s Castle is a granite rock formation that you can walk between, around and over!  It was one of several hideouts used by the feared bushranger ‘Thunderbolt’ who roamed the New England Tableland.

Good eye Elysia! You showed me that a blue heron is really blue and also managed to catch him perched on the yellow (I’m not sure what …). Diane will definitely give you bonus points!

Nice catch, Elysia (both you and the heron!).

A good minimalist approach, Robert.  Next time we have a minimalist challenge, then you can enter again!

Ok, Happy Monday (oops now Tuesday) so weekend done but did want to share a little yellow and a little blue.  Every year there is a local kite festival and i try to attend.  It is a fun day, always in April so spring is beginning and everyone is happy to be outside. Honest, this is from last year. 🙂

Interesting picture Bobbie.  For the repetition here, I wonder why some of the doors are different sizes…

Thanks Preston. As you can see, the building itself is a lot older than the doors which were obviously designed much later to give the street a fairly uniform look for visitors. I assume the size of the individual doors is dependent on structural demands and the size of the openings.

Nice ! Love the turquoise colour of the doors and the asymmetry in size.

I pined and moped… I had no yellow and blue to add to this collection of great photography and then I got up to let my dog out amd discovered that spring had sprung and the forsythia was forsooth and there was a young male cardinal sitting at the top so I grabbed my Flickr clickr and got out on my back deck where that was lots of yellow and a patch of sky (the necessary blue) but the bird had flown. I am still playing at learning and so the post-production was an exercise in strengthening color. and ignoring for the most part the automatic straightening tool inside “crop”.

Suggested by @robertapple that I add this Little Bee-eater here. Sorry to those who have seen it elsewhere… 😉

Good that you accepted Mr Apples suggestion  – I have not seen those images before and they are great. Wonderful creatures – display a very special colour palette.

White-fronted Bee-eater (not a suitable name in my opinion) in late daylight. Snapped in the same time slot as the one above.

Here, the weather is pretty much still white and grey, but with kids, there’s no shortage of primary colors in my life 😉
