Graham and Gary mentioned the Golden Ratio and Fibonacci, so find spirals in nature or architecture, or compose your image using the Golden Ratio.

I like the amount of spirals you have in this! Its easy to just focus on the big one, but there’s more than meets the eye.  Good shot Michael

Interesting image with great contrasting colors. Are you sure it’s a fern Andre? It looks more like an alien’s antenna 🙂

Color contrast works great here and the spiral looks really interesting 🙂 I would have never guessed that this was fern!

Thanks so much, Preston. It is the details that pull me in. Macro is so fun.

For the Golden Spiral I think this is not quite there….

    bucweeet_FortWhyte_2016-02-28_19-Edit

And I feel that this one is closer but still not quite there….

    bucweeet_20131124_0358-Edit

But I think this one displays the Golden Spiral best…

Paul, I like the first image (with the upside down horn) the most as an interesting animal portrait and the second image the most as a depiction of a spiral (I’m always a little too loose about sticking to formal definitions).

Paul, love the way you framed the eye in the second photo! Even if you missed the Golden Spiral, it’s still an excellent composition

Great shots of the bison! Love the second shot…and I say close enough on the spiral.

Maybe not spirally, but I do think this has some golden ratio in it 🙂

This is as close as I could get at mid-day without casting a shadow over everything (small camera, no interchangeable lenses if you remember).

You beat me to it Bobbie. I had the same idea.  🙂  Walked around the yard for a bit yesterday but couldn’t find one. Which for our plants is a good thing. 🙂

Nice Preston, I like the way the focus is on the spot where the vine latches onto the branch/stick … what ever it is. It gives a sense of direction and purpose.

Beautiful low-key image Diane. Is this the same spiral that we saw a few weeks ago in a dark dramatic image? This could be a series in the making!

Thanks Bobbie, yes it is the same spiral, it’s actually an eggcup! Perhaps your right, I should do a series! 🙂

Thanks, Holly. This is a piece of wisteria vine that I have growing in my yard. I loved the spirals and took it inside for a better background.
