I like the desaturated BG look which brings out the grass and moss covered rocks in the FG. The crop dimension works really well in this pic too. Wish I lived where you do :).

Thanks Frogdaily! What it doesn’t show are the many tourists doing what we were doing. Also, there were two “characters” in dinghies photo bombing folks. It was a challenging shot, to say the least.

I just watched a football awards night on TV last night (The Brownlow Medal) which awards the seasons best player as voted by the umpires. Before it starts, there is a red carpet walk where all the players wives are interviewed and talk about their dress and who designed it etc. It’s a pretty big night on the footy landscape.
Anyway, when I saw your rose pic it immediately made me think of some of the gowns the ladies wore. Now I’m not about to wax lyrical about chiffon, lace and haute couture but I reckon any dress designer worth his or her salt could get some great inspiration from this pic Leanne. The lighter bit being the bodice with the two vertical leaves wrapping round the shoulders…

I’m off work sick at the moment. Maybe I should back off on the medication I’m on? In any case, its a lovely picture.

Wow! What a shot! The contrasts in light and texture that the B&W brings out are fantastic. The misty mountains beyond the valley amplify the mood as the waterfall, looking like white fire, hits the rocks below. There’s an awe-inspiring Tolkien majesty about this scene which is simply jaw-dropping. If it isn’t already there, I’ll be putting this in Members Pick of the Week.

Great capture Kent. There’s juxtaposition aplenty here. Their quiet sitting pose, faces apparently glued to a phone screen against the bright activity of the water spray designed for the very purpose of attracting people’s attention. It’s almost as if the spray is saying “Hey, over here, look at me!”

What was once an attraction in its own right is now reduced to merely providing seating while people check their phones for messages etc.

Pat, I love the little line of color and the leaves struggling to maintain their balance and not fall over edge.

Thanks, Bobbie – and to think this gem of a waterfall goes mostly unseen – it is an old dam and now a road passes over it so many who live in the area have never seen it.

Is that you Bobbie? If so, I think this is the first time I’ve seen your eyes.

Definitely not me Kent, I’m not a “selfist” (and she’s many years younger).

I’m not hiding the baby blues but whenever I’m outside, the shades are on because my eyes are sensitive to light.
