Very nice, indeed, click!  Being from NZ, I recognised the name, but could not remember anything about him, so googled –

” Leif Erikson Day is an annual observance that occurs on October 9. It honors Leif Erikson, the Norse explorer who led the first Europeans thought to have set foot in continental North America.”

Even at 75 yrs, I continue to learn.

Hi Elin,  you got me wondering because I copied the quote from Wikipedia.  On checking further I see that he was Icelandic.  Because he is mentioned as Norse: Icelandic–Norwegian, it appears that Iceland was under the control of Norway at the time, however, that is confusing to me because before independence, Iceland was part of Denmark?  Maybe I need to go further back in time?

Maybe you can enlighten me?

Jim, actually I´m just being nitpicky. Leifurs father, Eiríkur rauði or Erik the Red, was from Jæren in Norway, but moved to Iceland with his parents when he was about 10 yrs old where he grew up, married and became father to Leifur. Later Eiríkur travelled west, discovered Greenland and settled there. Thus it is essentially a question of how many generations it takes to become a native 😉 Although Wiki states that Leifur is Norwegian, he is generally acknowledged to be Icelandic.

Polaroid Cube

I had to Google Polaroid Cube, it looks interesting! That’s a very nice old fashioned type of landscape.

Thank you , i got that cube for putting on my bike while out for a ride it sure came in handy that day 😉 .. i use it now when i ‘m doing a spot of fishing it can record 1080p video none stop for 90 mins and shoot .jpegs.

It’s a lovely little spot sometimes i fish just below the bridge you can see all the wild trout moving in the water from the bridge when the water levels drop a little.

Thanks all for the comments. Preston. Out of camera  image was very flat because of all the fog. Only a few minutes earlier you could barely see the tree. I increased contrast some to give the image at least a little definition.

Shot has exactly ZERO amount of the wonderful autumn colors Tersha mentions in her intro to this challenge. In my defense there’s not a lot of color left in my neck of the woods.  Although after the fog lifts this morning I may venture out into the wild to look for some.  🙂

We didn’t have much color in my area this year. We went from summer to pre-winter pretty darn quickly. So, here’s a shot I took a couple of years ago. I like the semi-abstract effect of this shot.

It looks like the foliage doesn’t belong at all.  I’m picturing a jungle with a random deciduous tree thrown in.
