Really cool shot. I’m an amateur and hope you don’t mind me asking, how do you set up for a shot like this? Lighting ect?

Hi KrisT,  No setup. This is a photo of my niece while visiting a science museum. She is backlit by a skylight and, of course, it is above her. Everything else is reflected light from the skylight. She was interacting for a few seconds with a giant fan exhibit so I didn’t have the opportunity to pose her or consider the lighting. The result is mostly luck.

This portrait has always been a favorite. The far away look in her eyes. the stories she knows – and likely not all pleasant. Really makes me stop and see beyond a face through to her soul.

As the mother of boys this really appeals to me. I would place money that the boy on the bench is mad because he can’t get a turn on the bike.

Elin, I agree. That’s where the IBIS kicks in. I wanted the IBIS for the video, but now I see how it works for still, makes me extra happy. Obviously, motion blur of objects/people moving with 1/20s will still be there. I will test how slow I can go.

Hi Ho everyone, just popped in for a quick look at my long lost family. Been off the grid for quite a while I know but I’m hoping to get back into LS soon (when my wife goes back to work so I can access the computer). Haven’t taken anything new in ages so dug up an old favourite for this challenge.

Hi Pat and thanks for the kind words. Been hanging out to get back into LS life but since the wife has been working from home, the 4 hour computer access I had everyday inbetween my broken shifts has been taken away. By the time I get home at night, it’s a bite to eat and bedtime for me. Can’t wait for retirement!!!

How many goats do you have? You’ve never posted any photos of them, that I’ve seen.

We’re down to just three goats now. But two of them hate getting their hooves trimmed. Always turns into a rodeo. Wrestling with them wears me out faster than it used to. Before we sold the farm after one very busy kidding season we ended up with 73.

That’s why we got Cider. He was our Livestock Guardian Dog. He was very good at his job too.

I have some goat pics but most were taken with a small point and shoot camera before I got my DSLR. I’ll try to fit one or two into the weekend challenge some time. 🙂

Well here’s an old one taken at the top of our hill one frosty morning.

Patrick, one of my favorite shows this year is the Scottish show This Farming Life.  It’s wonderful, and this shot captures how a lot of the families in the show felt about their prize cattle. The lighting really captures fierceness and confidence.
