Allows Edits? YesThe last part of our ‘Understanding Light’ month. …. High-Key.
High-key is mostly light, eliminating most of the shadows and dark tones. Flowers and minimalist photos work very well in high-key.https://www.lightstalking.com/abstract-flower-photography/

Allows Edits? YesCool. Preston did you darken the eyes after taking the image? Or lighten in pp?
-
June 28, 2020 at 6:05 pm #449909
Thanks Anne. I lightened the eyes in pp. The original image had a heck of a shadow on the left side to the point where the eye was almost black. I worked this one pretty heavy to get the high-key look, but it wasn’t hard since it’s a light grey/white cat.

An oldie, but still one of my fav’s:

-
June 28, 2020 at 3:36 am #449861
Taken in the same area as the oryxes above. The dynamic range demanded by the super bright desert sun was just way to wide for any camera to handle. The chicks in mom’s shade and mom’s gaping mouth says it all.

Allows Edits? Yes@dchester1001 Cool. David, what is cross-polarization?
-
June 28, 2020 at 6:23 pm #449913
Hi Anne. Cross polarisation is where you have a polarised light source – using a polariser filter on a lamp as an example, and a polariser filter on your camera lens. It creates psychedelic patterns in clear plastics. Different effects are created by turning the polariser on the camera.
