Terrific. My first thought was of a macro shot of a fly’s eyes. It’s so symmetrical down the middle’ but the colours suggest otherwise.  Is this just light playing tricks on us?

Tricks, yes, but not an optical illusion. It is two images spliced together, hence the color differences. The subject is a bowl of soap bubbles.

I really like this Diane. Couldn’t stop looking at it for some time. The moody lighting and focus shift lends a threatening aura and adds to the pointed nature of the danger looming overhead.

If I was a field mouse looking up I’d be thinking…”Gee, if one of those things falls on me?”

I like the colours in this pic dave and the way you’ve managed to reduce the dominance of what I assume is crashing sea water in the BG. The rock cairn pulls the eye strongly. Nice compo.

Hi Graham. Yep. That’s a crashing wave in the BG. While wading into unknown waters of my editing software I was able to produce this unusual look to this rock cairn and its surroundings. Thanks for your comment.

This image is lovely. The PNW holds special place in my heart. I recently found out that my youngsters long to return there too (they loved the hikes along the forest trails and the crashing waves). I will be planning a trip to Oregon when we can travel again.

Hi Tobie. Not much of a story to tell. My wife, sister and I took a day trip to the coast last December. After lunch we took a short hike. We saw a few rock cairns along the way. This one was the tallest and most interesting. It’s not unusual to see some of these when walking along the coast here.

This 25 sec exposure was shot with something specific in mind. It is strange how our interpretation of an image can change so much from what we start with. I have never felt so overwhelmed, with my multiple roles, as I do now. And now I look at this shot (that I took about a year ago) with a strange sense of longing, for simpler times.

Thanks Laura. 🙂 It was a bit chilly on the coast that day but no snow. Just crashing waves. We saw four cairns that day. This was the most elaborate.

A great shot Bruce. I don’t think I’ve ever seen water looking so sharp. It feels as if your hand would be cut off if you dipped it in the water. The fast movement juxtaposed against the solid structure create a very dynamic feel.

I like the first one too but can’t work out where the flame is shooting from? It looks like fire breathing but its coming from his hand area. In any case its a great pic with great light.

The flame originates from a ‘lit wand’ held in his hand. He is blowing some type of flammable liquid into/through the flame causing the big burst of flame.

Thanks Dave. I too love looking at these scenes. While editing this one, I noticed two things which stood out to me. Firstly the fish-head shaped rock in the bottom right thirds intersection and secondly what appears to be an artists signature in the bottom left corner. Two seconds after this pic was taken, there would have been something completely different to see I’m sure. 🙂

Thanks Peter.It is a small waterfall running in to lake. The overflow from a stream. The bed was a orange color and the blue was from the sky. F22 1/6 of a second. Was trying to get smooth water without filters.
