‘Monochrome : a photograph in black and white or in varying tones of only one colour.’
Most people think of monochrome as B/W, but it can be any one colour. This about framing, textures, composition, patterns. Try to avoid clipping to get the most out of varying tones and textures.

Thanks Bobbie. The patterns were formed by a combination of the river current and a strong tide. The sand was a pretty coarse volcanic type.

For an image that in colour on a dullish day it did not work, so I thought about converting it to B&W and putting a HDR effect in to it, and to my surprise it came out better than I would have hoped
