Next in our Landscape set … using a Telephoto lens. Consider the different effects you get with Wide Angle versus Telephoto.
Again, not everybody has a telephoto lens, so us the longest lens that you have. 🙂
Think about composition, focal length, isolating subjects, perspective, filters, a tripod for stabilisation if using a long shutter speed, framing.

Didn’t really make enough time to hang out (another newbie mistake I guess) but did see 2 swimming but by the time got the camera out and into a position where I could capture them they went back underwater…but will be heading out there again in the near future when I can sit and just wait scoped out a really close spot on the left (from the rear) side of the lodge to just sit leaning against a tree or if it is a little dryer even lay down flat and watch for them…fingers crossed!

Thank you, Leanne. Sort of timed – we were there to catch the first ferry to Statue of Liberty and our early arrival ended up being perfectly timed. It is an historical park, but I honestly didn’t know this memorial was in it! (this nested under Rob’s below 🙁  )

Thanks so much Patrick. It was taken from a hotel balcony. The light patches, at a glance, look like water but are actually roof tops! This is similar to a view that my grandparents had for several years and I never tire of seeing that gorgeous mountain.

Thanks Patrick – actually we got caught up in a fierce snowstorm few minutes after this shot was taken, and you are right – it was not a good place to be. However, we managed to catch 5 big and fat arctic chars while clinging to the river bank and each other – and survive, whereas the chars ended up in the freezer 🙂

I want to thank everyone for the kind words…I still have much to learn (especially what aperture to be setting) and going to start looking at taking some of my images into lightroom in the next week or two when I find funds to purchase (just have to do some minor budget adjustment) I have watched a few tutorials, they all make it look so easy but I’m sure it is going to take a lot of hands on practice to get comfortable without going overboard and ruining an image…..I like the real view look but I understand, especially when shooting in raw, that things need enhancement for example the trees in the fisherman image seem flat to me but that could have been the fog. I’m enjoying the journey and really looking forward to the different destinations along the way.
PS Seem to be having a difficulty in having my replies “landing” with the image I am replying to…seems they are landing at the bottom of the thread…
