This shot was taken on a walkway at a historic train station in Fort Worth, Texas. Each brick opening had a different translucent image printed on glass to depict life events, workers, and US Presidents visiting the train station.  A window into another era. You can also see the image of a man on a bench on the other side of the glass. Terrific exhibit!

Oh, I really like how that spotted light brings you straight to the subject. This is such a strong composition. I really like it. The choice of guy with black-and-white was also a very good one I think though I would love to have a look at the colour version.

Thank you Rob 🙂 This guy plays so beautifully – he is brilliant so he should not be where he is. He stands there most nights all year around. With plastic cards there is little cash in peoples pocket and therefor not much to earn this way, but when you give him some his face beams with a toothless smile that in itself deserves a handsome amount. Anyway that is the reason I think of him in black and white.

I’m jealous that you have ghost towns to explore like that. There are a few in Australia but they’re not as common. However there is one just south of Sydney that I really want to explore but it is on private property so I need to plan a little bit better than usual.

Beautifully timed shot Patrick. I love this kind of light. Was it a bit harsh or side light? Many photographers tend to avoid it, but it works great if used well 🙂

Spring 2025 was very warm , so yes harsh early evening the sun was starting to set maybe another 2 hours from this time i can tell by the side light on that white building were the sun is roughly positioned , the plane is about to land at george best airport.

I’m loving the stock compositions of the last few city. Seems you have shot. Something about finding simplicity in cities I find extremely difficult to do. Everything always seems so busy and so funny those simple frames takes a lot more skill than you would think. Well done.

Belfast in so small you can cover a lot of ground in a short space of time nothing like the city you live now thats a city , like the usa massive spaces lots of highrise we are only starting to see big buildings there is lots of construction building student accommodation in belfast and new hotels , they must know something i don’t haha 🙂

Personally, I think the smaller cities are a more civilised way to go. There’s an ugliness to the sprawl and I honestly don’t think it helps social cohesion either.

Talking of sizes , belfast is small but when i go up on the mountain and look down through the valley i can see it has grown a lot compared to when i was a kid , back then there was few houses that went up the valley sides but when i look now lots of new places really have encroached into the countryside , give it another 50 years and it will be hard to tell which county is which.
