We’ve had a couple of series for yard birds. But how about wild animals?
Snapped this slender mongoose in the late afternoon sun yesterday. This one is better on the big screen.

Allows Edits? YesBoth really good Tobie, I’d never seen one of these before, they have an unusual eye colour!
We get squirrels, I’ll try for some shots. 🙂-

Thanks @tersha. Look at the eyes on big screen – they are cat’s eyes turned sideways. In my language it is known as a ‘meerkat’ with ‘kat’ meaning ‘cat’. Maybe that name was based on the cat-like eyes because there’s no other resemblance to cats?

Allows Edits? YesThanks Tobie, @tobiepsg, yes, they are legless lizards. They thrive in places like compost heaps, or under tarps, where they can get a little warmth. I try not to disturb them too much, but if I look at the right time I can see adults and juveniles.

Allows Edits? YesWonderful photos Tobie – a great idea for a throwdown, – wish I could contribute but we simply do not have any wild animals in the garden apart from birds and humans.

Thanks Patrick. I’m not sire what sort this one is. It’s similar to the writing or banana spider characteristic in the southern US, but lacks the characteristic pattern in the web.

Thank you, Tersha.
South Carolina USA. It may be a Banana spider, pretty common in late summer and early autumn. They are also known as Writing spiders because of a distinctive pattern in the central part of the web, though this one lacks that.

Nice shot! It reminds me of my childhood days when we caught these spiders in the veld and released them in our yards to spin their webs.
